Form 5G Report
This year, form 5 kick started the year with 42 of the best mannered, groomed and best-looking students in school. This year we had a few new students in our class whom were introduced to us by our new form teacher Mr P. P. Lal.
The first day of school involved important decision making, as we had to choose the subjects that were going to decide our fate. Eventually, we adjusted to the new class routines and the 5th form work.We are extremely proud of the many things we managed to achieve this year. During the first term, students mostly from 5G combined with 5H took part in the Junior Achieve International Hewlett Packard Global Business Challenge. Yat Sen sent in two teams out of seven from Fiji made up of Natabua, MGM and Indian College. We challenged teams from around the world. The aim competition was prepare students in the field of business management. We were the only tw ams from Fiji that made it to the second round
In week 11, our Form teacher Mr P P Lal unfortunately suffered a heart attack and Mr S. Kumar kindly accepted the position of assistant form teacher.
The second term started with excitement. The Yat Talent Quest was scheduled for week 6. We had the opportunity to show off our acting and dancing skills. After many weeks of rehearsing i.e. running around, laughing, yelling at each other. On the night of the Talent Quest, everything fell into place and to our delight; we won the Best Form Item. We won $150 and a carton of coke. Of the $150 we received we gave $50 and collected another $50 and donated it to the it the Save the Children’s Fund. Also during the second term, our very own Aqua Man, John Miller represented Yat Sen at the Courts Swimming Carnival. He came 2nd in the 200m Open Men Freestyle, U16 Men's 50m Freestyle and U16 Men's 50m Breaststoke. Lokhim represented Fiji in the Oceania Table Tennis Championship meet in the U17 grade. He won consolation prize for U17 grade after hectic matches. He is currently the No. 1 junior in Fiji. Hopefully he will be representing Fiji in the SPG. Also in term two, our debate team narrowly lost to a 5H side but gained a great learning experience.
The Sprite Basket Ball Championship was held on the second week of the second term holidays and the U 17 boys team won the final against a very strong Grammar side.
We were also happy when Mr P. P. Lal returned to school and resumed being our form teacher in term three.
We would to thank our student council reps, our librarians, our magazine reps and all the students of 5G who made this a bright, colorful and successful year.
