COMMERCE DEPARTMENT
The Commerce Department has great pleasure in conveying its message and thoughts to all those who are associated with the magazine.
The Department consists of four dedicated and hard working teachers who have been busy throughout the year passing knowledge in accounting and economics to Form 3 to Form 7.
The objective of Accounting is to provide financial information about economic affairs for the use of decision making. Accounting is not simply Book keeping. It is inter-related with economics so much that accounting is said to be 'The preparation and the presentation of economic data'. On the other hand Economics is not simply supply and demand, but formula of economic policies, strategies and collecting statistical data.
As part of the learning process, Economics students visited factories, and business houses in Suva as well as the Western Division.
A two-day field trip to the West was organised for Form 6 and Form 7 students. They visited the F.S.C Sugar mill, Pacific Green (Furniture Factory) and Nadi Weather Office.
Form 5 Economics students had a one-day tour of the West, visiting Pacific Green and Warwick Hotel.
Form 3 visited Rups Industries and Dahia Footwear Ltd. The students not only enjoyed the field trip but also learnt a lot.
I would like to thank the Principal, members of the Commerce Department, as well as the Staff members for their co-operation and unending support.
To all our form 4, 6, 7 students who will be sitting exams, we extend our best wishes so that you will do well. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you throughout the exam week.
Wishing everyone Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year.
