Form 5 - 1998

FORM 5H REPORT

Form 5H kicked off 1998 with 20 distinguished males and 23 courteous females. With Fiji Junior behind us everyone was looking forward to an easygoing, party-filled year. Unfortunately this was not so when we came face to face with subjects like Physics, History and Geography. Despite this, everyone settled in and we even managed to have fun.

Throughout the year 5H excelled in the classroom, the sporting field and in the extracurricular activities. This of course was made possible by the wide variety of students in the form. We have the brainboxes, the rugby and basketball fanatics, the computer freaks, the dongs, the bookworms…you name it. We have them!

Our very own Jacqui St. Julian was part of the Takia U16 Womens Team that won the gold medal for Fiji in the 8th Va’a World Outrigger Canoe Championships held here in the Suva waterfront. Our U17 basketball boys also did us proud when they won their grade in the Inter-Secondary School Basketball Tournament. There was also Salaseini Serulagilagi, our ace orator, who took out the top placings in the Senior Oratory category during Language Week and Library Week contributing greatly to gaining points for the form which enabled us to come 2nd overall in the latter.

At the end of Term 1 we sadly said good-bye to Maxine Joe who left for Australia for further education. We thank her for having done a good job at being our student council rep along with Raymond. Thank you also to Tracy for successfully filling in the gap left by Maxine.

Finally I would like to take this opportunity to thank our patient form teacher Mrs. Taito for putting up with us as well as my partner in crime, Sala, for her help and support. Last and definitely not the least the members of Form 5H for being the responsible mature and quiet students that you’re NOT. It has been an honor to be part of this groovy, cool, creative and artistic form.

  Merry X-mas and God Bless!

FORM 5G REPORT

Cool! We’re seniors now and we feel so grown up and we get all these free periods (even though only a few use them wisely). New grills have been put up over all our windows and even the doors. Our cage was voted by outsiders as ‘Best Decorated Cage’ around. Geee, thanks!

Term one’s English week was a success as we managed to scoop the 3rd prize of $60 with our last minute play scoring highly! Thanks to all the participants.

Sadness came when we had to say goodbye to Lana (our little Chinadoll) who, on July 21st left our shores for greener pastures in Vancouver, Canada. (the lucky doll!)

Term 3 started out on a happier note though with Afa Mataika being awarded MVP (Most Valuable Player) in the Inter-Secondary School Basketball Tournament that took place in the second term holidays.

This year we decided to celebrate Library Week too. Despite our enormous lack of interest for our display board (ahem!), our Character Paraders brought cheers and whistles, oh, and the 1st Prize for the form with Stirling Edwards as "Cupid – the God of Love" and Kwen Wai Fung as "George of the Jungle." Well done guys!

Well, that just about sums it up for the form 5G for now. May I take this opportunity to congratulate my fellow classmates on a job "well done" in making this such a mischievous and exciting year (for us AND the teachers!)

MERRY X-MAS TO YOU ALL.
