Yat Sen PTFA

In the business of getting over the events of May 2000, the reconciliation, the rebuilding and generally getting back to normal, 2001 has flown by almost unnoticed.

The PTFA has experienced a new determination this year. It has seen the strengthening of the association through the many new parents who have volunteered to be committee members. New blood, new ideas and new resolve to achieve the objectives of the PTFA Association.

Despite not having any fund raising activity in Year 2000 and only one major one this year, we were able to meet the needs of both schools. I must at this juncture convey my deepest gratitude to Patricia Punja (Vice President) and those untiring mothers and committee members who gave up their time, money and assets to ensure the proper conduct of the many functions at the schools. It has been a real pleasure serving with you.

In the true spirit of rebuilding, the committee had also decided to do away with house competition in the dance-a-thon this year and just form a united front to push forward our fund dive.

I must also congratulate Mrs B. Ali and Mrs L. Uluikavoro for the excellent results that they, with all their teachers and staff have achieved in our schools. We were confident that we will maintain the high standards or even better the results for 2001.

In closing may I just commend the students and Teachers for their resilience in weathering the upheavals of 2000 and courage in facing the uncertainty of 2001. Merry Christmas every one and a prosperous 2002.

A. V. Katonivualiku
(President)
