The department has a team of hardworking and dedicated teachers whose main aim is to help and guide the students to always strive for excellence. The school has modem facilities which provided an adequate and interesting learning environment.

2.         Activities

    2.1 Field Trips                       

            - Form 4 local area survey which included a factory and farm visit.

            - Urban land use and residential zones were included in the study.

            - Form 3 and Form 5 trips are being planned for term three.     

 

    2.2       Staff Development

            - This was organized by the members of the department.

            - Important aspects of our teaching were reviewed and reorganized.

            - This mainly focussed on lesson preparation, wide use of resources and essay writing

 

    2.3       Analysis of the 2001 General Election Results 2000

            - This was done at all levels which allowed the students to study some aspects of Fiji’s political system

            - It also gave them an opportunity to study Fiji’s constitution.

            - We plan to include this as an important aspect of our study next year.

 

    2.4       Form 3 Social Science displays

            - Included types of landforms learnt and depicted different social systems covered at this level.

 3.         External Exam Results 2000

                        F.J.C Social Science                 -           91.8% 

                        F.S.LC             Geography       -           93.8%

                                                History -           91.7%

                        F.S.F.F            Geography       -           80%

                                                History -           88.9%

Our aim is to improve on these results this year. Special emphasis have been made on Form 6 4 Geography and Form 7 History because of the new exam format which will be used in this year’s exam.

4.         Appreciation

4.1 The Principal - I would like to thank Mrs. Ali for her support and willingness to offer 4 any kind of assistance to provide students with the best.

4.2 Teachers - Their commitment and their untiring effort throughout has greatly contributed to the efficient organization of the department. The teachers are very well qualified and with many years of teaching experience have greatly helped the students in their quest for success.

Despite the uncertain political situation last year, there is a strong spirit of cooperation within the department this year. This has given us strength and confidence to provide and produce the best for our students.

Our best wishes to those in Form 6 and Form 7 that will move onto higher educational institutions. It is our hope that you will continue to strive for excellence.
