Objectives: 

1. To encourage the students of Yat Sen Secondary School to take more interests in the field of Mathematics in order to promote their performance in the subject.

2. To provide programs to all interested students to promote skills in solving mathematic problems in the form of competitions, tutorials or any form of method that is of interest to students.
 

Fast Facts: 


1. There will be regular meetings fortnightly.


2. The association is a student organization helped by teachers to run. The President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a few enthusiastic executive members will run it.


3. Funds for running the associations will come from the following:
a) Membership fee — two dollars annual fee. All students in Yat-Sen Secondary School are welcome to be members.

b) Competitions — 20 cents to 5 dollars a competition.

c) Tutorial classes — cost both members and non-members for each class (with non-members paying surcharge fee)

d) Donations.
 

4. Programs run by the association will be mainly concerned with mathematics:
a) Competitions — speed competitions, knowledge competitions, team competitions, advanced competitions, and others. Prizes will be available mainly in the form of cash or member donations.

b) Tutorials classes — mainly to help students not good in mathematics to improve their skills in solving mathematics problems. Also provides advanced tutorial classes for the more skilled students to promote “Mathematicianship”.

c) Weekly questions — free and open to all students of the school. The students with the right answers will be in for a chance to draw for a prize.

d) Posters will be put up in the aim to promote mathematics awareness.
 

5. Office-bearers will be elected annually by popular vote of Association members. Office-bearers are to be enthusiastic in Mathematics and responsible in their roles in the Association.



The Association came into official operation with the advent of 2001 with the following office-bearers:
