Badminton

Yo! Bula and welcome to the Yat Sen Badminton Association. Badminton has been on of the major sports played in the school for a very long time. We encourage all interested players to join and be part of the badminton team every year.

On the 28th of May this year, the JR White secondary school tourney took place at our school hall. Yat Sen entered 4 teams; 2 boys and 2 girls team, to compete against teams from St. Joseph, Marist Brothers, and Natabua. With a lot of hardcore training and excellent team work, we dominated the tourney and proved to be the best.

Our Boys Team A had tough encounters from Natabua and Marist but came out on top, bringing the Boys Shield to the school for the first time in 5 years.

Our girls Team A proved once again to be unbeatable and regained the girls division. This is the first time any school has managed to defend the shield 3 years in a row in the girls category.

Both the girls and boys B Team did their best and achieved respectable results.

In the singles division, our very own Fiji National Rep, Andra Whiteside, won first place and did us all proud. Thank you once again, Andra.

Altogether, we won a total of $300 worth of vouchers to purchase sporting equipment from JR White for the school.

I wish to whole heartedly thank A.S.A Naidu Architects for sponsoring the YSS Badminton Association once again. Thanks to you, we were able to order 2 different sets of awesome shirts for the whole team this year. It somehow appears that brand new t-shirts tend to make us perform at a higher level.

Also, I would like to thank:

  • ?? Jeetendra Prasad, Alika Cooper, Andy Wong, and Bryan Li for taking the time off to come and help the squad in its training.
  • ?? Mr. N. Sakimi for supporting the team and always encouraging us to work hard and maintaining good sportsmanship. You stayed back after school until we finished our training and offered to look after our equipment which we are all very grateful for. I know that we were a real test for your patience and we appreciate your tolerance ¨C de Unity Bill
  • ?? All the families, teachers and friends who came to support us. You gave us hope and helped us strive to do our best and become victorious overall.

And last but not least, a big sher sher nee and congratulations to all 28 players. You are all skillful and talented players and have proven to be the best.

Remember our motto for this year: ¡°N.F.A¡±!

Thank you once again everyone and all the best for next year¡¯s tourney.

Ciao¡

Mel
