COMMERCE DEPARTMENT
The department has a team of hardworking and dedicated teachers who use
various methods to promote teaching and learning and to strive for excellence.
At the beginning of Term One, the department welcomed Mrs. Joyce Kumar who brought with her a vast wealth of knowledge and experience. The commercial subjects have become very popular among students for various reasons. The following data shows the number of students opting for Economics/ Accounting and Office Technology.

Activities
Two field trips were organized this year for Form 5 and Form 7 students:
- Form 5 Economics students visited Sigatoka Research Station to gather
important information on various aspects of Agriculture.
- Form 7 Economics students visited FSC-Research Station for a study of the Sugar Industry and Legalega Research Station to gather information on Horticulture.
The information gathered by the Form Seven students was helpful in their study of the topic Primary Industry. It was a two day field trip and students were accommodated at the Gateway Hotel.
There was a general improvement in external examination results in 2004; however the department is optimistic and hopes to improve both its pass rate as well as students scores this year.
